Korean Government Scholarship Details.
Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) is one of the most sought for international students scholarship .It is is offered to international students who want to pursue Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees in Korean Universities.
Each year, about 300 undergraduates and 1000+ graduate international students from 156 countries are invited, for degree(Undergraduate, Master’s & Doctoral) and non-degree research programs in Korea through the Korean Government Scholarship.
The scholarship is aimed to provide international students with an opportunity to conduct advanced studies at higher educational institutions in Korea, to develop global leaders and strengthen Korea-friendly networks worldwide.
Application Timeline: Applicants submit their applications either to the Korean Embassies around the world or to the partnering universities in Korea.
Applications are expected from:
Undergraduate : September 2025 to October 2025 .
Graduate : February 2025 to March 2025.
Offered annually? : Yes.
Accepted Subject Areas: Courses offered at one of the 60 participating Korean higher institutions
Host University: Korean Universities.
Scholarship Eligibility:
To be eligible for the Korean Government Scholarship:
1 . Both the applicant and his/her parent must hold non-Korean citizenship.
2 . Applicant must have adequate health both mentally and physically to stay in a foreign country for longer duration.
3 . For undergraduate program applicant should be under twenty five (25) of age.
4 . Graduate applicants age should no be more than Forty (40).
5 . Undergraduate Applicant should have finished or be schedule to finish formal education of all elementary, middle, high school courses by date of arrival.
6 . All applicants should have grade point average (G.P.A) above 80% from the last educational institution attended.
Number of Scholarships :
KGSP Undergraduate : nearly 300 grantees will be awarded annually.
KGSP Graduate : nearly 1200 grantees will be awarded annually.
Korean Government Scholarship Benefits.
Successful applicants will receive Korean Government scholarship which covers the following;
1 . The Scholarship cover the actual cost of airfare .
2 . Covers full tuition fee.
3 . Living Allowance.
4 . Medical Insurance.
5 . Settlement Allowance.
6 . Research support.
8 . Language Course support.
9. Completion Grants.
Selection Procedure
1st Selection: Applicants submit their applications either to the Korean Embassies around the world or to the partnering universities in Korea. The embassies and universities select the successful candidates among the applicants in the 1st round of selection. The applicants of the successful candidates will then be forwarded to NIIED.
2nd Selection: The NIIED selection committee selects the successful candidates among those who passed the 1st round.
3rd Selection: Among the successful candidates who have passed the 2nd round, the applications of those who applied through the Korean Embassies will be reviewed by universities for admission. Successful candidates must get admission from at least one of the universities.
Scholarship Duration
1 . Bachelor’s Degree Program : 5 years
○ 1 year of Korean language program.
○ 4 years of regular degree program.
Associate Degree Program : 3 or 4 years.
○ 1 year of Korean language program.
○ 2 or 3 years (depending on the length of the program) of regular degree program.
